Reliance Jio continues to expand support for eSIM technology, offering customers a convenient way to activate mobile services without using a physical SIM card. As more smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches adopt eSIM functionality, users can digitally activate or convert their existing Jio connection with a few simple steps. The service is available on a wide range of compatible Android devices, iPhones, and wearables, making it easier for consumers upgrading to newer devices.
An eSIM, or Embedded SIM, is a digital version of a traditional SIM card that is built directly into a device. Unlike a physical SIM, it allows telecom operators to remotely provision and manage mobile connections over the air. The technology not only eliminates the need for a SIM tray but also enables users to switch devices or activate services more conveniently without handling a physical card. It has become increasingly popular due to its flexibility, security, and ease of use.
Jio supports eSIM activation on several compatible devices, including iPhone XS and newer models, Google Pixel 4 and later smartphones, as well as select Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, and Vivo devices. Customers are advised to verify device compatibility through Jio's official website before initiating the activation process. Users converting from a physical SIM should ensure they have access to a stable Wi-Fi connection, as internet connectivity is required during the setup process.

To activate a Jio eSIM, users must visit the official Jio eSIM request page, choose their device manufacturer and exact model, and enter the Jio mobile number they wish to convert. After submitting the request, Jio sends a One-Time Password (OTP) to the registered mobile number for verification. Once the OTP is validated, the operator generates an eSIM activation profile or a QR code that can be installed on the supported device.
The final step involves adding the eSIM profile through the device settings. On iPhones, users can navigate to Settings > Mobile Data > Add eSIM, while Android users can access Settings > Network & Internet > Add eSIM and scan the QR code provided by Jio. After downloading the profile, the device may require a restart to complete the process. Once activated, the Jio connection becomes operational without the need for a physical SIM card, reflecting the growing shift toward digital mobile connectivity in India.
