In a dazzling display of skill and determination, India’s young boxers secured an impressive 14 medals at the Asian U19 Boxing Championships held in Bangkok on August 10, 2025. The contingent, comprising both male and female pugilists, claimed three gold medals, seven silver, and four bronze, showcasing India’s growing dominance in the sport against formidable opponents from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China.
Leading the charge, Nisha delivered a commanding performance in the women’s 54kg category, overpowering China’s Sirui Yang in the final round to secure a 4:1 victory. Muskan, competing in the 57kg category, exhibited aggressive flair, earning a hard-fought 3:2 split decision win against Kazakhstan’s Ayazhan Ermek. In the men’s division, Rahul Kundu shone in the 75kg category, defeating Uzbekistan’s Muhammadjon Yakupboevek with a 4:1 split decision to claim gold.
India’s female boxers were particularly outstanding, with nine out of ten competitors in the U19 category returning with medals. Alongside Nisha and Muskan’s golds, Aarti Kumari (75kg), Kritika Wasan (80kg), Parchi Tokas (80+kg), Vini (60kg), and Nisha (65kg) fought valiantly in their finals but settled for silver after closely contested bouts. Yashika (51kg) and Akanksha Phalaswal (70kg) added bronze medals to India’s tally.

In the men’s section, Mausam Suhag (65kg) and Hemant Sangwan faced tough competition, earning silver medals, while Shivam (55kg) and Gaurav (85kg) secured bronze.
India’s success extends beyond the U19 category, with 13 medals already assured in the U22 category, where five boxers are set to compete for gold on Monday. The 40-member Indian contingent has demonstrated remarkable talent and resilience, cementing the nation’s reputation as a boxing powerhouse on the continental stage.
