A European Under-21 Championship qualifier between France and Luxembourg was postponed on Friday following a bus accident involving the Luxembourg team in Brittany. The match, originally set for Lorient, has been rescheduled to October 3, 2026, at a venue yet to be confirmed, as decided by UEFA in coordination with both federations.
The incident occurred Thursday near Languidic, where the coach carrying 33 people—players, staff, and driver—overturned into a roadside ditch. Local reports from Ouest France indicate eight minor injuries: four players, three staff members, and the driver.
French soccer federation president Philippe Diallo expressed support: "We extend our full support and wish a speedy recovery to the members of the Luxembourg delegation who were injured and traumatised, as well as to the bus driver." He praised UEFA's "wise" decision to delay amid the "unprecedented situation", prioritising the well-being of those affected.
