Novak Djokovic delivered one of his finest performances in recent years to storm into the third round of Wimbledon with a commanding straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, while defending men's champion Jannik Sinner also progressed despite another testing outing. In the women's draw, reigning French Open champion Mirra Andreeva suffered a surprise exit after losing to former Wimbledon winner Barbora Krejcikova. The second-round matches on Wednesday produced a mix of dominant displays, hard-fought victories and major upsets at the All England Club.
Djokovic, chasing a record 25th Grand Slam singles title, brushed aside Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just 98 minutes. The seven-time Wimbledon champion struck 33 winners and committed only seven unforced errors in a clinical performance that underlined his title credentials. The victory marked his 104th Wimbledon singles win, leaving him just one victory behind Roger Federer's Open Era men's record. Djokovic, who recently turned 39, will next face France's Arthur Rinderknech in the third round.
Speaking after the match, Djokovic said he was pleased to produce what many described as a vintage performance. The Serbian had been pushed hard in the opening round before overcoming Wu Yibing, but looked far more comfortable against Tsitsipas, extending his winning streak over the Greek to 12 consecutive matches. Despite questions over his form following an early exit at the French Open, Djokovic showed he remains a serious contender for another Wimbledon crown.

World number one and defending champion Jannik Sinner also booked his place in the third round after defeating Portugal's Nuno Borges 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-2), 6-4. Although the Italian admitted he still needs to improve certain aspects of his game, he did enough to secure victory after another challenging contest. Sinner had already survived a difficult first-round encounter earlier in the tournament and will now face American Jenson Brooksby for a place in the last 16.
The biggest surprise of the day came in the women's singles draw as French Open champion Mirra Andreeva was knocked out by Barbora Krejcikova. The Czech star recovered from losing the opening set to claim a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory and advance to the third round. Krejcikova, who won Wimbledon in 2024 and the French Open in 2021, praised the quality of the contest and expressed pride at securing another memorable win on Centre Court against one of the sport's fastest-rising stars.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka also progressed after overcoming a spirited challenge from American McCartney Kessler, winning 6-1, 7-6(11-9) to set up a third-round clash with Jelena Ostapenko. Japan's Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula also advanced safely. Meanwhile, Serena Williams' planned Wimbledon doubles comeback with sister Venus has been placed in doubt after the American great sustained a knee injury during her singles defeat earlier in the tournament, with her team saying she is doing everything possible to be fit for the doubles event.
