Brazilian football star Neymar has reportedly donated USD 250,000 to support emergency rescue and humanitarian relief efforts in earthquake-hit Venezuela following the devastating twin earthquakes that struck the country earlier this week. According to Venezuelan news outlet El Sumario, the donation will be used to provide immediate assistance to affected communities, including food, clean drinking water, medical supplies and temporary shelter for thousands of displaced residents. The contribution comes as rescue teams continue to battle difficult conditions while searching for survivors.
Expressing solidarity with those affected, Neymar reportedly said his heart was with the people of Venezuela and hoped the financial assistance would provide strength and relief to families struggling in the aftermath of the disaster. His donation adds to the growing international support being mobilised for the South American nation, where humanitarian agencies and emergency responders continue to work around the clock to meet urgent needs amid widespread destruction.
According to the latest update from Venezuela's National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez, at least 1,430 people have lost their lives, while 3,238 others have been injured in the twin earthquakes that struck on Wednesday. Authorities also reported that 3,142 families have been displaced after their homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable. Rescue teams remain engaged in intensive search operations as concerns grow over the shrinking chances of finding additional survivors.

Emergency operations have been complicated by repeated aftershocks and a shortage of heavy rescue equipment. The twin earthquakes, measuring magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, triggered widespread destruction across affected regions, leaving thousands without shelter and damaging critical infrastructure. Officials said the continuing seismic activity has made rescue efforts more dangerous, forcing teams to work cautiously while navigating unstable structures and debris.
Meanwhile, attention has also turned to Neymar's return to international football during the FIFA World Cup. Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said the forward has made significant progress in his recovery and is now capable of playing for longer periods. Neymar, who missed Brazil's opening two matches of the tournament, made a brief appearance in the team's 3-0 victory over Scotland and is expected to feature more prominently in the Round of 32 clash against Japan.
Brazil's qualification for the knockout stage also extended an extraordinary record in FIFA World Cup history. The five-time world champions finished first in their group for the 12th consecutive World Cup, maintaining an unbroken streak of topping their group at every tournament since 1982. As Brazil prepares for the next phase of the competition, Neymar's humanitarian gesture has drawn widespread attention alongside his anticipated return to a larger role on the field.
