Delhi Metro services will begin at 4 am on August 15 to facilitate the movement of special guests, invitees and members of the public attending the Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Thursday. The early morning services are intended to support smooth travel to the celebrations at the Red Fort and manage the expected increase in passenger movement on Independence Day.
According to the DMRC, trains will operate at a frequency of 30 minutes on all metro lines from 4 am until regular revenue services begin according to the scheduled timetable for the day. The special early services will provide an additional transport option for people travelling to central Delhi during the morning hours.
The DMRC has also supplied 1.30 lakh special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence for the movement of special guests and bona fide invitees attending the Independence Day celebrations. Invitees carrying valid physical admit cards issued by the Ministry of Defence will also be provided these special QR tickets at designated metro stations.

The Red Fort is the main venue for the Independence Day celebrations, with Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate identified as the nearest metro stations. The early start is expected to make it easier for authorised invitees and other commuters to reach the area while avoiding additional pressure on road transport during the morning.
The special QR tickets will be used specifically to facilitate travel for eligible invitees attending the celebrations. The DMRC said the Ministry of Defence will reimburse the corporation for the cost of journeys undertaken using these special tickets.
The early metro services form part of the transport arrangements for August 15 as Delhi prepares for the Independence Day celebrations. Commuters travelling in the early hours are expected to benefit from the additional service window, while regular metro operations will continue according to the scheduled timetable once the special early services conclude.
