Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee has been fined 10 per cent of her match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during their match against Mumbai Indians, the league confirmed on Wednesday. The offence was classified as a Level 1 breach under Article 2.2, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during the match. According to WPL rules, the match referee’s decision for such breaches is final and binding.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of Delhi’s chase of 155, when Lee, in fine form, was adjudged stumped for 46 after a prolonged third-umpire review. Television replays showed that her bat had momentarily lifted off the crease as Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous whipped off the bails, resulting in Lee falling just four runs short of her third half-century of the season.
Despite the setback, Lee maintained a guarded demeanour during the post-match presentation. She remarked, “Look, it was a great take from the keeper. But that’s all I’ve got to say about that,” refraining from further comment on the incident.

Delhi Capitals, however, secured the victory, thanks to skipper Jemimah Rodrigues, who returned to form with a 37-ball 51 not out, anchoring the chase of 155 and guiding her team to a seven-wicket win. The result keeps Delhi Capitals firmly in playoff contention, with four teams now locked on four points, while former champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru continue to lead the table.
The fine and demerit point serve as a reminder of the WPL’s strict enforcement of its Code of Conduct, emphasising fair play and professional conduct even in high-pressure match situations.
