JioStar, the IPL’s broadcast and streaming rights holder, declared its unwavering commitment to prioritizing national interest on Friday, fully supporting the BCCI’s decision to suspend the TATA IPL 2025 due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan.
The company vowed to stand united with the government, armed forces, and civilians impacted by the conflict.
The IPL was halted for a week following air raid alerts in Jammu and Pathankot, which led to the cancellation of Thursday’s Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala.

JioStar pledged to collaborate with the BCCI to resume the tournament at an appropriate time, ensuring a seamless transition and the safe return of all involved in the broadcast.
“We wholeheartedly support the BCCI’s decision and stand firmly committed to national interest above all else,” JioStar stated, emphasizing solidarity during the crisis triggered by a recent terror attack and cross-border aggression.
Rediffusion Chairman Sandeep Goyal endorsed the suspension, stating, “National interest comes first. While soldiers fight, stadiums can’t cheer for sixes.”
He noted that insurance clauses would likely cover broadcasters’ losses, with brands shifting focus to news channels.
Nuvama’s Abneesh Roy downplayed the financial impact, noting that with most IPL matches completed, the suspension’s effect on stocks like SUN TV and United Spirits, linked to IPL teams, would be minimal and sentiment-driven.
