Uncertainty continues to surround the availability of Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians’ upcoming Indian Premier League clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with the senior batter still not fully cleared after a hamstring injury. The former captain has missed the team’s last three matches, and his participation in the crucial encounter remains doubtful as the franchise adopts a cautious approach.
Rohit sustained the injury during Mumbai Indians’ fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12. He showed visible discomfort while batting and called for the physio during the innings. As the pain worsened, he was forced to leave the field in the following over and did not return to bat, with Mumbai eventually losing the match by a significant margin.
According to reports, Rohit has resumed some level of training and even spent time batting in the nets, which has offered a degree of optimism regarding his recovery. However, team management is unlikely to take any risks unless he is completely fit, especially given the nature of hamstring injuries, which can worsen if a player returns prematurely.

At a recent training session at Wankhede Stadium, Rohit was present but did not participate in a full batting session. He was seen doing light warm-up exercises and running drills, accompanied by support staff. After a brief interaction and discussion with the team members, he left the field without engaging in intensive practice, indicating that his recovery is still in progress.
Meanwhile, other members of the Mumbai Indians squad, including Suryakumar Yadav, have intensified preparations ahead of the match. Suryakumar was among the first to hit the nets and reportedly completed an extended training session. The team had recently returned from a short trip to Jamnagar, after which players resumed practice sessions promptly. With a key match approaching, Rohit Sharma’s potential return remains a major talking point for both fans and team management. A final decision on his inclusion is expected to be taken closer to match time, depending on his fitness levels and medical clearance.
