In a crucial IPL 2025 clash at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the toss and opted to bowl against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who managed 166/7 in their 20 overs.
Rishabh Pant’s explosive 63 off 49 balls, with four fours and four sixes, anchored LSG’s innings, supported by Mitchell Marsh’s 30 off 25 and Abdul Samad’s quickfire 20 off 11. However, CSK’s disciplined bowling, led by Ravindra Jadeja (2/24) and Matheesha Pathirana (2/45), kept LSG in check on a bowler-friendly red-soil pitch.
LSG started shakily, losing Aiden Markram (6) early to Khaleel Ahmed and Nicholas Pooran (8) to Anshul Kamboj, reaching 23/2 by the fourth over.

Pant and Marsh steadied the ship with a 50-run stand, but Jadeja’s double strike, dismissing Marsh and Ayush Badoni (22), pegged LSG back to 105/4. Pant’s aggressive strokeplay, including a 98-meter six, powered LSG past 150, but Pathirana’s fiery 19th over removed him and Samad in quick succession. Shardul Thakur’s late 6 off 4 couldn’t lift LSG beyond a par total.
Noor Ahmad’s economical 4-0-13-0 spell and Jadeja’s spin mastery exploited the slow track, while Pathirana’s pace proved decisive. CSK, chasing 167, will rely on Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway to navigate LSG’s spinners, Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Rathi. With Tamil New Year fervor fueling fans, CSK’s chase promises high drama.
