Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues won the toss and opted to bowl first against Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Eliminator on Tuesday evening. The high-stakes knockout clash is being played at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, with a place in the final on the line.
The winner of the Eliminator will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final of the tournament. RCB Women secured direct qualification to the summit clash after finishing at the top of the league table with 12 points from eight matches. Gujarat Giants ended the league stage in second place with 10 points, while Delhi Capitals finished third with eight points to book their spot in the playoffs.
After winning the toss, Rodrigues said the decision to bowl was influenced by the conditions and the nature of the surface. She noted that it was a fresh pitch that was expected to get better under lights and added that dew could play a role later in the match. The Delhi skipper also praised her team’s resilience throughout the season and stressed the importance of focusing on the present challenge.

Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner said her side was prepared to bat first regardless of the toss result. She explained that the team wanted to be proactive in the powerplay and take the game on with an aggressive approach. Gardner added that the pitch looked similar to those used in recent matches, with a bit of live grass, but said the focus would be on assessing conditions early.
Both teams went into the Eliminator unchanged. Delhi Capitals named a strong XI featuring Lizelle Lee, Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Marizanne Kapp and Sneh Rana, while Gujarat Giants fielded a lineup led by Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine, Ashleigh Gardner and Renuka Singh Thakur.
With two evenly matched sides and a final berth at stake, the Eliminator is expected to be a closely contested affair, as Delhi Capitals look to extend their campaign and Gujarat Giants aim to capitalise on their strong league-stage form.
