The 10th edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) began on Tuesday, with defending champions IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans taking on Dindigul Dragons in the tournament opener at the NPR College Cricket Ground in Dindigul. Featuring eight franchises and a total of 32 matches, the domestic T20 competition will run until August 28, when the final will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The opening phase of TNPL 2026 will be played in Dindigul, where all league matches are scheduled until August 15. The tournament will then shift to Chennai from August 18 for the remaining league fixtures and the playoffs. Each team will play the other seven sides once during the league stage, with the top four teams advancing to the knockout rounds comprising Qualifier 1, the Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final.
The eight participating teams this season are Chepauk Super Gillies, Dindigul Dragons, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Madurai Panthers, Vida Kovai Kings, Nellai Royal Kings, Salem Spartans and Trichy Grand Cholas. Several prominent domestic cricketers are expected to feature during the tournament, including Washington Sundar, T. Natarajan, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sai Kishore, Shahrukh Khan, N. Jagadeesan and B. Indrajith, adding significant experience and quality to the competition.

The league schedule includes multiple double-headers during the group stage before the playoffs begin on August 23. Qualifier 1 is scheduled for August 23, followed by the Eliminator on August 24 and Qualifier 2 on August 26. The championship match will be played under lights at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium on August 28, where the winner of the 10th edition will be crowned.

Since its launch in 2016, the league has emerged as one of India's leading state-level T20 tournaments, providing a platform for emerging cricketers while featuring several established domestic and international players. With a mix of experienced campaigners and young talent, TNPL 2026 is expected to deliver nearly four weeks of competitive T20 cricket across Dindigul and Chennai.
