India all-rounder Sayali Satghare made an immediate impact on her Test debut by producing a stunning delivery to dismiss Australia opener Georgia Voll on the opening day of the women’s pink-ball Test at the WACA Ground on Friday. The remarkable wicket came late on Day One of the match between India women's national cricket team and Australia women's national cricket team, marking a memorable start to Satghare’s career in the longest format of the game.
Satghare, one of four Indian players making their Test debut in the match, showcased her swing bowling skills during her opening spell. The Mumbai-born cricketer delivered a beautifully shaped ball that began well outside the off stump before swinging sharply inward. The delivery slipped through the gap between Voll’s bat and pad before crashing into the top of the leg stump, sending the Australian opener back to the pavilion and drawing praise for its precision and movement.
The wicket provided an early highlight in the contest after Alyssa Healy, captain of Australia, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Healy’s decision was aimed at exploiting the conditions with her pace attack against the Indian batting lineup. However, Satghare’s breakthrough demonstrated that India’s bowling unit was also capable of producing decisive moments in the match.

Satghare earned her Test cap following a strong run of performances in domestic and franchise cricket. She had previously represented India in three One Day Internationals and gained attention for her swing bowling during the recent season of the Women's Premier League. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, the eventual champions, she impressed with her ability to generate movement with the new ball and consistently trouble batters.
Her performances in the league reportedly played a key role in securing her place in the national Test squad. Satghare had joined the franchise as a late replacement but quickly established herself as a reliable new-ball option, regularly producing early breakthroughs that helped her team control matches.
The dramatic dismissal of Voll not only highlighted Satghare’s bowling potential but also marked a significant milestone in her international career. Delivering such a high-quality wicket in her first Test appearance signaled the arrival of a promising pace-bowling all-rounder for India, as the visitors look to challenge Australia in one of the most demanding formats of the sport.
