India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj praised teammate Akash Deep, calling him a “horse” brimming with hunger and potential after their dynamic bowling partnership dismantled England in the second Test. Siraj’s 6/70 and Akash Deep’s 4/88, stepping in for a rested Jasprit Bumrah, bowled out England for 407, countering India’s first-innings total of 587.
Speaking to BCCI.TV, Siraj lauded Akash Deep’s relentless energy: “He’s like a horse, waiting for his chance and showing how hungry he is. I loved bowling with him.” Siraj emphasized his focus on maintaining control and pressure, ensuring minimal runs from his end.
Akash Deep reciprocated the praise, crediting Siraj’s role in their success. “Mian [Siraj] kept the pressure on, which helped me grab two early wickets with the new ball,” he said. “Our comeback with the second new ball was special. We bowled as a unit and enjoyed it thoroughly.”

Despite narrowly missing a maiden five-wicket haul, Akash Deep remained unfazed: “Five wickets will come and go; I don’t dwell on it.” The Bengal pacer’s maturity and Siraj’s leadership underscored their effective partnership, setting a strong foundation for India in the match.
The duo’s performance has bolstered India’s bowling attack, with their synergy proving crucial on a competitive Birmingham pitch. As the Test progresses, their camaraderie and skill promise more challenges for England’s batsmen.
