West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest run-scorer in men's T20 cricket history during a Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 match for MI New York. Pollard achieved the milestone while scoring an unbeaten century against Washington Freedom, surpassing fellow Caribbean legend Chris Gayle to move to the top of the all-time T20 run-scoring charts.
The former West Indies captain reached the landmark in style, clearing the boundary during his innings of 100 not out from 56 deliveries. The knock took his career tally to 14,582 runs in 736 T20 matches, moving him ahead of Gayle's previous record of 14,562 runs. The achievement further cements Pollard's status as one of the most influential and durable players in the history of the shortest format of the game.
Pollard's latest milestone also highlights his remarkable longevity. He remains the only cricketer to have played more than 700 T20 matches, having represented teams across domestic leagues around the world for nearly two decades. His ability to remain competitive across different tournaments and conditions has made him one of the defining figures of franchise cricket globally.

Despite Pollard's heroics, MI New York were unable to secure victory. Washington Freedom posted a formidable total of 245 for five, powered by a stunning innings from Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen. Owen smashed 155 runs from just 68 balls, setting a new record for the highest individual score in Major League Cricket history and providing the foundation for his team's commanding performance.
Chasing 246, MI New York suffered an early collapse as Quinton de Kock, Monank Patel and Nicholas Pooran departed cheaply. Pollard then launched a spirited counterattack, building partnerships with Romario Shepherd and Corbin Bosch to keep the chase alive. He eventually reached his century off the final ball of the innings, finishing with 11 fours and four sixes.
Although MI New York fell 30 runs short of the target, the day belonged to Pollard. His record-breaking achievement places him alone at the summit of T20 cricket's batting records. Behind him on the all-time list are Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, Jos Buttler, David Warner and Virat Kohli, making Pollard's accomplishment another significant chapter in an already celebrated T20 career.
