India’s women’s cricket team etched their name in history by clinching their first-ever T20I series victory against England, sealing a 3-1 lead with a commanding six-wicket win in the fourth match on Wednesday. The triumph in Manchester, powered by stellar spin bowling and explosive batting, sets the stage for the final game in Birmingham on Saturday.
The Indian spinners—Radha Yadav (2/15), Shree Charani (2/30), and Deepti Sharma (1/29)—ran riot, restricting England to a modest 126/7. Radha and Deepti struck early, dismissing England’s openers within the powerplay, while Charani removed Alice Capsey, leaving the hosts reeling at 93/5. Stand-in captain Tammy Beaumont’s quickfire 20 couldn’t stem the tide as India’s sharp fielding choked England’s middle overs.
Chasing 127, openers Shafali Verma (32 off 24, six fours) and Smriti Mandhana (31 off 22, five fours) blazed a 56-run stand in just 5.4 overs. Despite losing both in quick succession, Jemimah Rodrigues (24*) and Harmanpreet Kaur (26) guided India to victory with 18 balls to spare, navigating a tricky phase without boundaries. Harmanpreet praised the team’s preparation and role clarity, crediting pre-tour camps for their success.

This series, following a 97-run thrashing in the opener and a 24-run win in Bristol, boosts India’s confidence ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England. Despite a five-run loss in the third T20I, the Women in Blue have dominated, ending a drought that persisted since their lone T20I win in Derby in 2006.
