Gunshots were fired at the residence of newly elected Cricket Canada president Arvinder Khosa in what police are treating as an extortion-linked attack, marking another serious security incident involving the country’s cricket administration just days after his appointment. According to reports, the incident took place around 4:40 am local time on Wednesday morning at Khosa’s home in the Newton neighbourhood, while family members were inside the property.
No injuries were reported, but visible damage was observed, with at least five bullet impacts found on doors, windows, and exterior walls of the residence. Authorities, including Surrey Police, have indicated that the shooting is being investigated as an extortion-related crime. Police confirmed that an individual associated with the residence had previously received threats, suggesting a possible targeted intimidation attempt linked to ongoing criminal pressure tactics in the region.
The incident comes shortly after Khosa assumed charge as Cricket Canada president following a court-ordered leadership vote that replaced former president Amjad Bajwa. His appointment has already been surrounded by controversy, with wider allegations circulating about administrative instability and external pressure within Canadian cricket structures.
