The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declined to provide clarity on the potential inclusion of veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in India's squad for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said discussions regarding the team's long-term roadmap are internal strategic matters and are not intended for public disclosure.
In an interview with PTI, Saikia remained non-committal when asked about the future of the two former India captains, both of whom have been widely linked with a possible appearance at the 2027 tournament. He stressed that decisions concerning team planning are made within the board and should not be discussed publicly while the process is ongoing.
"I should not disclose anything before the media or the public as these are strategic discussions," Saikia said, refusing to comment on individual players. His remarks have done little to settle speculation and instead raised further questions about whether Rohit and Kohli will continue to feature in India's white-ball plans over the next year.

The uncertainty follows similar responses from chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir, both of whom have also avoided confirming whether the experienced duo will be part of India's plans for the next 50-over World Cup. Their cautious approach has fuelled debate over the balance between experience and the emergence of younger talent.
Despite the lack of official confirmation, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are reportedly determined to continue playing with the goal of representing India at the 2027 World Cup. Their performances and fitness over the coming months are expected to play a significant role in shaping the selectors' final decision.
With more than a year remaining before the global tournament, India's squad composition remains an open question. For now, the BCCI has chosen to keep its plans confidential, leaving fans and experts to speculate about whether two of Indian cricket's most successful batters will get one final opportunity to compete on the sport's biggest one-day stage.
