At least five people were killed and 15 others injured after a tourist bus overturned on National Highway 57 in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, officials said on Saturday. The accident occurred in the early hours, triggering a swift response from local authorities and emergency services.
According to preliminary reports, the bus was carrying tourists when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the highway. The impact of the crash left several passengers trapped inside, prompting rescue teams and local residents to rush to the scene to pull them out of the wreckage.
Police and emergency personnel arrived shortly after the incident and launched rescue operations. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition.
