Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held bilateral talks with Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors. The high-level meeting marked a key diplomatic engagement aimed at deepening India-Myanmar relations, particularly in areas such as trade, economy, technology and people-to-people exchanges.
During the discussions, both leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral ties and explored avenues for expanding collaboration in strategic and developmental fields. The talks are part of Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing’s ongoing five-day official visit to India, which includes engagements in Delhi, Bihar and Maharashtra.
Earlier in the day, the visiting President arrived in the national capital, where he was received by Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh at the airport. His visit began on Sunday with meetings in Gaya, Bihar, highlighting the cultural and historical connections between India and Myanmar. The Ministry of External Affairs noted that the visit reflects the long-standing civilisational and spiritual ties between the two nations.

On Saturday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met President Min Aung Hlaing in New Delhi and discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation. Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Myanmar’s interest in deepening ties with India and underscored the importance of advancing partnership for peace, progress and prosperity in the region.
Following his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the Myanmar President is scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan later in the day. He will also visit the cultural exhibition “The Light and the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One” at the Raipithora cultural complex in Delhi, which showcases the sacred Piprahwa Relics of Lord Buddha, underscoring the shared Buddhist heritage between the two countries.
The visiting President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising cabinet ministers, senior officials and business leaders. His itinerary also includes participation in a business forum and visits to Mumbai for industry interactions and site inspections on June 2. Officials said the visit is expected to further enhance economic engagement and strengthen regional connectivity initiatives between India and Myanmar.
