Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) ignited the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, clinching pole position for the Gran Premio YPF Energia de Argentina with a blistering 1:36.917—the first-ever 1:36 lap at the venue. This new lap record marks his second consecutive pole of the 2025 MotoGP season, a feat not achieved since his dominant 2019 campaign, and places him a quarter-second ahead of the field.
The six-time MotoGP World Champion showcased his prowess in a dramatic qualifying session. Brother Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) secured P2, trailing closely, while Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) stunned onlookers by claiming P3—just 0.042 seconds off Alex—delivering Honda’s first front-row start since 2023. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) salvaged P4, joined on the second row by rising star Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team).
The Q1 shootout set the stage for chaos, with Somkiat Chantra and Ai Ogura crashing out, while Joan Mir’s late surge earned him a Q2 spot. In Q2, Marquez obliterated the lap record early, then sealed his dominance with a final flyer. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) notched a season-best P7, followed by Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi, and Mir, with Brad Binder and Alex Rins rounding out the top twelve.
As Marquez continues his fiery start with Ducati, the stage is set for an electrifying Argentina Grand Prix.
