Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Wednesday that repeated attempts to tarnish the Kanwar Yatra’s reputation have been thwarted by an alert society and a vigilant administration. Speaking at a public meeting in Bareilly after launching 545 development projects worth Rs 2,264 crore, Adityanath hailed the yatra as a powerful symbol of unity and devotion, drawing lakhs of devotees to the city’s Nath Corridor for jalabhishek. He accused opposition parties of engaging in appeasement politics that once fueled communal riots in Bareilly every few months before 2017, contrasting it with the city’s current identity as a hub for spiritual tourism.
Adityanath emphasized the transformative impact of the BJP’s “double-engine government,” which he said ensures equitable development without discrimination based on caste, religion, or region. “This is the new India, progressing with ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas,’” he stated. He highlighted projects like the Nath Corridor, flood protection initiatives, road expansions, a Unani medical college, and drinking water schemes, all aimed at blending heritage with modern infrastructure. The CM also distributed appointment letters to over 6,000 youths through a rozgar mela and provided certificates and tablets to welfare scheme beneficiaries.
Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana, Adityanath noted, young entrepreneurs receive interest-free, collateral-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh, scalable to Rs 10 lakh upon timely repayment. He contrasted this with pre-2017 recruitment practices, which he claimed favored political cronies, stating that over 8.5 lakh transparent job appointments, including 60,244 police personnel (12,000 women), have been made in the last eight years. Adityanath also celebrated the state’s shift from being mafia-dominated to a leader in initiatives like ‘One District One Medical College’ and ‘One District One Product.’ He announced plans to develop tourism sites like Ramnagar Fort and Akshat Parshvanath Digambar Jain temple with central government support, underscoring the government’s commitment to prosperity and cultural preservation.
