The Congress high command has summoned Telangana Forest, Environment and Endowment Minister Konda Surekha to New Delhi amid an internal disciplinary row involving her and Telangana Planning Board Vice-Chairman G. Chinna Reddy. Surekha travelled to the national capital on Tuesday and is expected to meet Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. She has also sought an appointment with party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud have also reached Delhi amid indications that the party leadership could take a decision on the disciplinary proceedings against the two leaders. The development comes days after the state Congress Disciplinary Committee reportedly recommended strong action against Surekha and Chinna Reddy.

The disciplinary proceedings against Surekha are linked to remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmita, against Revanth Reddy. The committee reportedly observed that Surekha should have condemned the remarks and noted that the minister had previously faced concerns over party discipline. In her response to a show-cause notice, Surekha distanced herself from her daughter’s comments, describing them as personal views and arguing that she should not be held politically responsible. She sought withdrawal of the notice.

Chinna Reddy is facing action over remarks he made against the party leadership and Wanaparthy MLA T. Megha Reddy during the inauguration of a mandal Congress office at Gopalpet in Wanaparthy district on August 16. In his response to the disciplinary notice, he described his comments as an expression of grievances among long-standing party leaders and workers and requested that the notice be withdrawn. The disciplinary panel has reportedly recommended his removal as Planning Board Vice-Chairman, a position carrying Cabinet rank.

Several other senior Telangana Congress leaders and ministers, including Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, are also in Delhi. The party leadership is expected to hold consultations with Revanth Reddy, Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natrajan and other senior leaders. Discussions are also likely to cover a possible Cabinet reshuffle and expansion and appointments to nominated posts.

Revanth Reddy had earlier declined to comment publicly on the controversy involving Surekha and her daughter, maintaining that the matter was being handled by the party’s Disciplinary Committee. With the committee’s report now before the national leadership, the final decision on the two leaders is expected from the Congress high command. The developments come as the party seeks to reinforce internal discipline and address differences within its Telangana unit.
