Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during a campaign event for the United Democratic Front (UDF), accusing him of indirectly supporting communal forces in the state. The remarks come amid an intensifying political contest in Kerala, where alliances are stepping up their campaign efforts.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Revanth Reddy alleged that the Left government under Vijayan had failed to effectively counter divisive elements, instead allowing them space to grow. He argued that such an approach was weakening the secular fabric of the state, a claim that is likely to further escalate political tensions between rival parties.
The criticism was delivered as part of the UDF’s broader outreach campaign, which seeks to consolidate voter support by targeting the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF). Leaders within the alliance have consistently accused the Vijayan-led government of governance failures and ideological compromises, particularly on issues related to law and order and communal harmony.

Responding to similar allegations in the past, leaders from Vijayan’s party have rejected such claims, maintaining that the LDF government has upheld secular values and taken firm action against any form of communalism. They have also accused opposition parties of attempting to politicize sensitive issues for electoral gain.
Political observers note that such exchanges are not uncommon during high-stakes campaigns in Kerala, where ideological battles between major alliances often dominate the narrative. The sharp rhetoric reflects the competitive nature of the state’s politics, with each side seeking to frame the debate around governance and secular credentials.
As campaigning intensifies, statements from senior leaders like Revanth Reddy are expected to shape public discourse in the run-up to the elections. The episode underscores the broader political contest in Kerala, where alliances are vying to position themselves as the most credible alternative for voters.
