Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a passionate appeal to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday, urging cooperation on critical irrigation projects while warning of a fierce fight if Telangana’s water rights are obstructed. Speaking in Nagarkurnool, Reddy highlighted the importance of projects like the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, Dindi, Kalwakurthy, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Koilsagar, essential for Telangana’s agricultural and economic growth. “Let us live in peace,” Reddy urged, calling on Naidu to refrain from blocking these initiatives.
Reddy sharply criticized Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project, which diverts 3 TMC of Krishna River water daily, threatening Telangana’s water security. He reminded Naidu that projects like Bheema and Nettempadu were launched during Naidu’s tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh. “How can he obstruct projects he once supported?” Reddy questioned, pressing Naidu to back the completion of these long-pending works.
In a dig at former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Reddy accused him of neglecting the Palamuru projects while wasting funds on the now-defunct Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. Vowing to champion Telangana’s water rights, Reddy declared his intent to remain Chief Minister until 2034. He also touted his government’s successes, including filling 60,000 government jobs in its first year and securing Rs 3 lakh crore in investments through international outreach.
