Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday clarified his recent “Nene Raju, Nene Mantri” remark, asserting that he is “not a ruler, but a public servant” committed to democratic governance. Addressing the controversy surrounding the statement, Revanth Reddy said his comments had been taken out of context and were never intended to project authoritarian intent. He explained that the phrase was meant to underline accountability and responsibility in governance rather than personal authority.
The Chief Minister emphasised that in a democracy, elected representatives function as servants of the people and are bound by constitutional limits. He reiterated that his government remains committed to transparency, institutional decision-making, and collective responsibility within the Cabinet.

The remarks had drawn criticism from opposition parties, which alleged that the statement reflected a centralisation of power. Leaders from rival political formations questioned the tone of the comment and called for clarification, arguing that governance must be consultative and inclusive.
Revanth Reddy, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, said his administration would continue to focus on welfare schemes, development initiatives, and responsive governance. He urged political opponents not to politicise statements and reiterated that his role, as defined by the Constitution, is to serve the people of Telangana.
