RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a blistering attack on Union Minister Chirag Paswan, accusing him of exposing his “weakness” as an NDA ally and lacking genuine concern for Bihar after Paswan criticized the Nitish Kumar government’s handling of the state’s deteriorating law and order. Speaking Sunday, Yadav dismissed Paswan’s remarks as mere political posturing, alleging, “Chirag loves only his ministerial chair, not Bihar.”
Paswan, head of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), had claimed Saturday that “law and order have collapsed” in Bihar, citing rampant crime and police failure, even expressing regret for supporting the NDA government. His comments drew sharp rebuke from JD(U) and sparked tensions within the NDA ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, seized the moment, pointing to incidents like an alleged gang-rape in an ambulance in Gayaji as evidence of a “shocking and shameful” situation.
Yadav further accused the NDA’s “double-engine government” of fueling crime and corruption, referencing a CAG report tabled Thursday that flagged Bihar’s failure to submit utilization certificates for over ₹70,877 crore, hinting at potential embezzlement. “One engine is crime, the other corruption,” he charged.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi defended the NDA, slamming Paswan’s inexperience and praising Bihar’s progress compared to the pre-2005 “jungle raj” under RJD rule. As political rivalries intensify, Bihar braces for a heated electoral battle.
