Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday at Kharge’s residence to strategize for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, expressing unwavering confidence in an INDIA bloc government ousting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Joined by RJD MPs Manoj Jha and Sanjay Yadav, Tejashwi emphasized unity within the Mahagathbandhan to challenge the BJP-JD(U) combine.
Addressing reporters, Tejashwi sidestepped questions on the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate, saying, “We’ll decide internally; don’t speculate.”

He accused Bihar CM Nitish Kumar of being “hijacked” by the BJP, noting Union Minister Amit Shah’s silence on Kumar’s CM candidacy despite endorsing his election leadership. Tejashwi slammed the NDA’s 20-year rule, highlighting Bihar’s economic woes—lowest per capita income, high migration, and low farmer earnings—vowing to fight on these issues.
Kharge echoed the optimism, posting on X, “Change is certain in Bihar. We discussed strengthening the Mahagathbandhan with Tejashwi Yadav. We’ll offer a just, welfare-driven alternative to free Bihar from the BJP’s opportunistic alliance.”
Rahul Gandhi called the talks “crucial” on WhatsApp, sharing meeting visuals. Congress leaders K C Venugopal, Rajesh Kumar, and Krishna Allavaru attended, signaling intense preparations.
The meeting follows Congress’s recent strategy session and hints at tough seat-sharing talks among Mahagathbandhan allies—RJD, Congress, and Left parties—eyeing the 243-seat assembly.
With polls expected by November, Tejashwi announced further discussions in Patna on April 17. The alliance aims to capitalize on anti-incumbency against the NDA, which faces cracks after Pashupati Paras’s exit.
