Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin unleashed a scathing attack on AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami, alleging he “mortgaged” the AIADMK to BJP’s Amit Shah out of “selfishness” to protect his family from unspecified raids. Speaking at a government event, Stalin highlighted his ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ outreach program, launched to deliver services like the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam, providing Rs 1,000 monthly to 1.14 crore women. He claimed Palaniswami was rattled by the scheme’s success and failed to match such welfare efforts during AIADMK’s rule.
Stalin accused Palaniswami of scrapping initiatives like marriage assistance and laptop schemes while blaming voters for supporting DMK’s Rs 1,000 aid. He mocked the AIADMK-BJP alliance, formed on April 11, 2025, for the 2026 elections, claiming Palaniswami’s 2021 loss was due to BJP ties, yet he realigned for “family love.” Stalin asserted Tamil Nadu’s trust in his “Dravidian model,” vowing to win in 2026.
At the event, Stalin inaugurated 47 projects, laid foundation stones for 12, including a knowledge centre and road works, and distributed welfare aid worth Rs 432.92 crore to 54,461 beneficiaries. New initiatives announced include a Rs 85 crore rail overbridge and a statue for martyr Samy Nagappan.
