Samajwadi Party MP Ramashankar Rajbhar ignited a fiery debate in the Lok Sabha, criticizing the government’s delayed response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. Speaking during a 16-hour discussion on Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strikes against Pakistan-backed terrorist infrastructure, Rajbhar argued that the nation demanded a swift and ruthless “Operation Tandoor” to “roast” the perpetrators, not the delayed Operation Sindoor launched 17 days later. “The country was furious, expecting action within three days, not a 17-day wait,” he said, questioning whether the four main terrorists responsible were among the 100 reportedly killed.
Rajbhar praised the unity of Hindus and Muslims in thwarting the terrorists’ aim to incite riots, showcasing India’s resilience. He also challenged claims by former US President Donald Trump, who repeatedly asserted he brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, allegedly tied to arms deals. “Trump’s 26 claims raise serious questions about our sovereignty,” Rajbhar remarked, sarcastically noting, “The real Vishwaguru was in the White House.” He pressed the government for clarity on the ceasefire and the operation’s effectiveness, echoing concerns raised by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav about recurring terror incidents and intelligence lapses.
The debate saw tensions rise, with Congress MPs like Gaurav Gogoi questioning security failures and the government’s silence on Trump’s statements. Despite disruptions over unrelated issues like Bihar’s electoral roll revision, the session highlighted deep divisions over national security and foreign policy.
