Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hailed the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) appeal to investigate his wife, Parvathi B M, in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case as a “resounding slap” on the Centre’s “vendetta politics.” In a statement on July 21, 2025, Siddaramaiah called the verdict a victory for justice, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of misusing agencies like the ED and CBI for political gains.
The Supreme Court upheld the Karnataka High Court’s decision to quash the ED’s notice, dismissing the Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) and cautioning against politicizing the case. Chief Justice B R Gavai emphasized that electoral battles should be fought through voters, not institutional misuse. Siddaramaiah stated, “This verdict restores faith in the judiciary and exposes the malice behind baseless allegations against my family.”
The MUDA case centers on alleged irregularities in compensatory land allotted to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme for 3.16 acres acquired by MUDA. The plots, located in an upmarket Mysuru area, were allegedly of higher value than her original land. Siddaramaiah decried the case as a “disgraceful and cowardly act” by the BJP and its ally JD(S), who, he claimed, fabricated charges to target him politically.

Demanding an apology from BJP and JD(S) leaders in Karnataka, the CM said, “If they have any dignity left, they must publicly apologize for their baseless accusations.” He further urged Modi and Shah to stop weaponizing constitutional agencies, emphasizing the need to restore their autonomy.
The ruling, described as a blow to “politically motivated interference,” has bolstered Siddaramaiah’s stance that the allegations were a witch-hunt. The verdict marks a significant setback for the opposition’s narrative, reinforcing trust in judicial processes amid claims of institutional misuse over the past decade.
