In a dramatic clash reminiscent of the web series Panchayat, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra from Maner, Bihar, has sparked outrage with a viral audio clip where he threatens a village secretary over a phone call. The heated exchange, reported on July 28, 2025, began when Virendra inquired about a death certificate for Avinash Kumar, husband of Rinki Devi. The secretary’s failure to recognize the MLA ignited a fiery response.
“You don’t know Bhai Virendra of Maner? The entire country knows me!” Virendra fumed, sarcastically asking if the secretary was “from England.” When the unfazed secretary asked for his identity, Virendra escalated, threatening, “Joote se maarenge tumko (I’ll hit you with shoes).” He berated the official for not greeting him respectfully and demanded the certificate be processed, accusing the secretary of poor work.
The secretary stood firm, stating, “If you speak rudely, I’ll respond rudely. I’m not afraid.” This defiance further enraged Virendra, who warned, “This won’t stop at transfer,” questioning the secretary’s origins. The call ended with the secretary calmly noting the request was in process. The incident, drawing parallels to Panchayat’s power struggles, has fueled BJP accusations of RJD’s “gunda raj,” intensifying Bihar’s political tensions ahead of the 2025 elections.
