Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of corruption and predicting that the people of Assam will hold him accountable. Speaking at a party meeting in Chaygaon, Gandhi claimed, “Your CM thinks he’s a raja, but fearless Congress workers and the public will put him and his family in jail for corruption.”
Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleged that the BJP, in collusion with the Election Commission, manipulated voter lists to secure victory in the Maharashtra assembly polls. Warning that similar tactics could be used in Bihar and Assam, he urged Congress workers to remain vigilant ahead of Assam’s 2026 assembly elections.
Criticizing the media, Gandhi claimed it focuses solely on industrialists like Adani and Ambani, and BJP leaders like Sarma, Modi, and Shah, while ignoring the struggles of common people. He accused the BJP of fostering division, contrasting the “hatred and violence” of the RSS with the Congress’s commitment to truth and non-violence.

Confident of Congress’s prospects, he predicted a sweeping victory in Assam’s upcoming polls, driven by public discontent with the BJP’s governance.
