Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, blaming systemic corruption for repeated infrastructure failures during the 2025 monsoon season. In a fiery Hindi post on Facebook, Gandhi accused the BJP of “organised loot,” claiming that crumbling bridges, washed-out roads, and derailed trains are not mere construction flaws but deliberate plundering of public funds.
Citing specific incidents, Gandhi pointed to a new bridge in Junagadh, Gujarat, collapsing before its inauguration, a national highway in Rajkot caving in, and Delhi’s ₹15,000-crore Pragati Maidan underpass flooding again. He highlighted Uttarakhand’s Tanakpur-Pithoragarh highway bridge, submerged within a year, and Bihar’s 12 bridge collapses over five years, including a recent ₹2-crore structure in Araria. In Chhattisgarh, a newly built national highway in Balrampur was washed away, all constructed under BJP’s tenure, he alleged.
“Every accident where no one is held accountable is not an accident—it’s murder,” Gandhi charged, asserting that tax money meant for roads, bridges, and hospitals is siphoned into “corrupt leaders’ pockets” and “shiny publicity hoardings.” He criticized the Modi government’s response of raising taxes while infrastructure deteriorates, questioning, “Where is this money going?”
