Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati convened a strategic meeting with over 250 Other Backward Classes leaders in Lucknow on Saturday, directing them to intensify efforts to consolidate OBC support across Uttar Pradesh in preparation for the 2027 assembly elections, while stating that forward communities would align with the party once backward classes demonstrate unified strength.
She sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party, accusing both of pursuing politics rooted in caste-based divisions, and presented the BSP as the only force committed to genuine social justice through its Sarvjan Hitay framework that transcends narrow vote-bank strategies.
The hour-long Backward Class Society Brotherhood Organisation session included district coordinators from all 75 districts, BAMCEF functionaries, and OBC unit heads, with state president Vishwanath Pal in attendance; national coordinator Akash Anand was absent due to commitments in the Bihar elections, and national general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra also did not participate.

Two days earlier, Mayawati addressed Muslim community representatives, advising them that supporting the Samajwadi Party would dilute opposition to the BJP and urging them to back the BSP to ensure effective electoral impact, reflecting a systematic outreach to key demographic segments ahead of the 2026 panchayat elections.
This meeting marked her fifth major organizational event in the past month, following a large public rally in Lucknow on October 9 and three prior high-level strategy sessions—each attended by over 400 leaders—where she emphasized rigorous participation in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of voter lists to strengthen the party’s electoral foundation.
