Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday asserted that a recent government communication strictly adhered to established procedures, rejecting allegations of impropriety raised by opposition parties. He said due process was followed at every stage and that the matter was being unnecessarily politicised.
Addressing reporters, Vijayan maintained that the message in question was issued only after complying with administrative norms and relevant legal frameworks. He emphasised that government decisions are guided by institutional protocols and internal scrutiny mechanisms, adding that there was no deviation from prescribed guidelines. The chief minister said attempts to portray the communication as irregular were “baseless and misleading.”
Opposition leaders had questioned the circumstances under which the message was conveyed, alleging procedural lapses and lack of transparency. They demanded clarifications on the chain of approval and sought a detailed explanation in the Assembly. However, Vijayan countered that the government remains fully accountable and that all actions are documented in accordance with statutory requirements.

The chief minister further stated that Kerala’s administrative processes are designed to ensure checks and balances, with multiple layers of review before any official communication is finalised. He said that if any doubts persist, they can be addressed through established oversight forums rather than through public speculation. Vijayan reiterated that his government remains committed to transparency and lawful governance.
The controversy has added to ongoing political exchanges between the ruling Left Democratic Front and the opposition in the state. While critics continue to press for further disclosures, the government has stood by its position that procedural integrity was maintained. Observers note that the issue is likely to feature in upcoming legislative debates as parties sharpen their respective narratives.
