BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday strongly criticised the Opposition, accusing it of crossing all limits during ongoing disruptions in Parliament. Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament complex, Ranaut said the repeated uproar had not only embarrassed the House but had also brought shame to the entire country.
Her remarks come amid sustained protests by Opposition parties over Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to cite excerpts from former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane’s unpublished memoir. The Opposition has alleged that it is being deliberately denied the opportunity to speak, while the ruling party maintains that parliamentary norms are being violated.
Ranaut alleged that Rahul Gandhi brought an unauthorised and illegal copy of the memoir into Parliament, insulting constitutional institutions in the process. She cited a clarification by Penguin Random House, which stated that the book has not yet been published, claiming this exposed the Opposition’s actions as unlawful and irresponsible.

Escalating her criticism, Ranaut said the Opposition’s conduct—including tearing papers, throwing them at the Speaker, and climbing onto tables—posed serious concerns for parliamentary dignity and security. She questioned whether such behaviour could eventually endanger Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded assurances to ensure decorum in the House.
Calling the issue extremely serious, Ranaut said the alleged use of women MPs as shields during confrontations further reflected the Opposition’s desperation. She warned that continued disorder would erode public faith in democratic institutions and damage the image of Parliament.
Meanwhile, proceedings in the Lok Sabha were disrupted once again, with the House being adjourned for the second time within minutes of reconvening. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to Congress MPs to allow discussion on the Union Budget, stating that several members, including nominated speakers from all parties, were prepared to participate.
Rijiju accused the Congress of deliberately stalling proceedings by entering the Well of the House and raising slogans instead of engaging in debate. He said the government remained committed to parliamentary discussion, but repeated disruptions were preventing meaningful deliberation on the Budget.
