Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut on Saturday, October 10, raised concerns over what she described as anti-national activities, terrorist elements and international conspiracies while responding to questions about the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest in New Delhi. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, the actor-turned-politician alleged that various forces were attempting to disrupt the country’s normal functioning and inconvenience citizens under different pretexts. Her remarks came as the CJP organised a demonstration at Jantar Mantar against the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Ranaut alleged that attempts to disrupt public life had become a serious concern and argued that citizens were increasingly frustrated by repeated disruptions. She expressed confidence in the government and invoked the blessings of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman while asserting that the country would overcome such challenges. She also suggested that public anger over disruptions could grow, making strong remarks about how people might respond to those responsible. Her comments came amid heightened political tensions surrounding the CJP demonstration and the police action taken against protesters.
The CJP protest was organised to raise concerns about the electoral-roll revision process and demand accountability from the Election Commission. The party had called for a gathering at Jantar Mantar on October 10, despite authorities denying permission for the demonstration. Police deployed additional personnel and imposed restrictions to prevent protesters from reaching the venue. Several CJP leaders were detained as they attempted to travel to or participate in the protest, prompting criticism from the party and its supporters.

Ranaut also responded to the INDIA bloc delegation’s meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, saying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had the right to seek an audience with the President. However, she compared the Opposition’s allegations about electoral processes to excuses made by students who perform poorly in examinations.
Ranaut argued that complaints about election outcomes resembled claims that examination papers had been unusually difficult or that teachers had treated students unfairly. Her remarks reflected the continuing political disagreement between the BJP and Opposition parties over electoral transparency and the interpretation of election results.
The CJP demonstration and the reactions it generated have added to the broader debate over the Election Commission’s role and the conduct of electoral-roll revisions. Opposition groups have raised concerns about the potential exclusion of eligible voters, while the authorities have defended the need for security arrangements around the planned gathering.
Ranaut’s statements introduced a sharp political response to the protest, with her allegations directed at forces she described as working against the country’s interests. The competing positions underline the continuing tensions between the ruling party and its critics over electoral procedures, public demonstrations and democratic accountability.
