All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge paid a visit to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence in Bengaluru on Sunday, accompanied by state minister Priyank Kharge, to inquire about the CM’s health. Siddaramaiah, who has been recovering from persistent knee pain, received warm wishes for a swift recovery from the Congress chief, highlighting the party’s solidarity during a time of personal and political challenges. The timing of Mr.Kharge's visit also led to speculation on social media about a potential change in Chief Ministership.
The visit, which took place amid a busy political schedule, saw Kharge spend time with Siddaramaiah, discussing his condition and offering encouragement. The Karnataka CM, in a social media post, expressed his gratitude, stating, “AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Minister Priyank Kharge, visited my residence, inquired about my health, and wished me a speedy recovery from my knee pain. I am deeply grateful for their trust and care in me.” Also present was the CM’s political secretary, Govindaraj, underscoring the significance of the moment within Congress circles.
Siddaramaiah’s knee issues have been a recurring concern, with the 77-year-old leader recently undergoing medical examinations at Bengaluru’s Manipal Hospital in February. Doctors advised rest, though he has continued to fulfill his duties, often seen using a walking stick or wheelchair during public appearances. The visit comes at a sensitive juncture for Karnataka’s Congress government, grappling with internal dynamics and opposition pressure over governance and leadership speculation.
Kharge’s gesture reflects not only personal concern but also a strategic show of unity as the party navigates these challenges. With Siddaramaiah at the helm, Congress aims to maintain stability, and Kharge’s support reinforces the high command’s backing of the CM.
