India and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic defence cooperation and ensuring stability in the Indo-Pacific region, following high-level discussions between senior military officials of both countries.
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan held talks with General Kevin B. Schneider, Commander of the Pacific Air Force and Air Component Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral defence engagement and reinforcing shared priorities in regional security, according to the Headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff.
Both sides underlined their common resolve to maintain peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific and beyond, while also recognising the growing importance of structured military cooperation. Officials noted a clear intent to expand and operationalise the scope, complexity, and frequency of bilateral and tri-service military exercises between India and the United States.

The engagement also highlighted the role of technology in modern warfare and strategic power. Both countries emphasised the need for deeper coordination in advanced capabilities, signalling that the partnership is evolving toward greater synergy in defence innovation and operational readiness.
This latest interaction comes amid a series of international engagements by General Chauhan, who recently visited the United Kingdom and held discussions with senior UK defence leadership, including Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton. Those talks also centred on strengthening cooperation in addressing emerging global challenges such as cyber threats, trade imbalances, and shifting security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific.
During his UK visit, the CDS addressed defence scholars at the Royal College of Defence Studies, where he spoke on the impact of recent global conflicts on military strategy and India’s evolving role in shaping a stable international security environment.
