The Central Water Commission (CWC) reported on Wednesday that water levels at 11 river monitoring stations across India have exceeded flood warning levels, though none have reached the critical "severe" or "extreme" flood thresholds, according to its daily flood bulletin issued from the Central Flood Control Room.
The bulletin highlighted that no stations have crossed their danger marks or historical highest flood levels. However, 12 sites across Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh are experiencing "above-normal" flood conditions, where water levels are above warning thresholds but below danger levels.
In Assam, the Kushiyara River in Karimganj and the Brahmaputra at Neamatighat in Jorhat are approaching concerning levels. Bihar is monitoring elevated water levels in the Kosi at Baltara, Bagmati at Benibad, and Gandak at Dumariaghat. Uttar Pradesh has four sites under watch, including the Ganga at Fatehgarh and Kachhla Bridge, Ghagra at Elginbridge, and Gandak at Khadda, which hit the warning level at 95 meters. Odisha reported above-normal levels at Mathani Road Bridge and Rajghat on the Subarnarekha in Baleshwar district, while Tamil Nadu’s Cauvery River at Musiri also crossed the warning threshold.

The CWC issued inflow forecasts for 23 reservoirs and barrages across 10 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Karnataka’s major reservoirs, such as Almatti, Narayanapur, and Tungabhadra, are seeing high inflows with rising or steady trends. Significant inflows were also noted at Odisha’s Rengali Reservoir and West Bengal’s Durgapur Barrage, prompting alerts for potential downstream impacts.
Despite an active monsoon, the CWC confirmed that no river stations have reached or surpassed their previous highest flood levels, indicating a manageable situation for now. Authorities continue to monitor the sites closely to mitigate potential risks.
