Former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Dusi K Mohan is set to spearhead the electoral campaign of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagamin the Cheyyar constituency, marking a notable political development ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Mohan, a seasoned political figure with prior organisational experience in the AIADMK, has been entrusted with leading TVK’s ground-level mobilisation and campaign strategy in the region. His appointment is being viewed as part of the fledgling party’s efforts to expand its footprint by inducting experienced leaders from established Dravidian formations.
According to party sources, Mohan will be responsible for coordinating booth-level committees, overseeing voter outreach programmes, and shaping constituency-specific messaging as TVK seeks to position itself as a new alternative in Tamil Nadu politics. The Cheyyar segment is considered politically sensitive, with a mix of rural and semi-urban voters influencing electoral outcomes.

The move also highlights TVK’s strategy of strengthening its organisational structure through targeted recruitment of leaders with established grassroots networks. Political observers note that the inclusion of figures like Mohan could help the party bridge its relatively limited administrative experience ahead of a high-stakes electoral contest.
Mohan’s shift from AIADMK to TVK reflects the ongoing churn in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, where emerging parties are attempting to challenge the dominance of traditional Dravidian majors. While AIADMK continues to retain a significant base, defections and realignments have become more visible in recent months as new political formations gain traction.
With campaigning expected to intensify in the coming weeks, TVK is likely to rely heavily on its newly inducted leaders to build visibility in key constituencies like Cheyyar. Mohan’s role will be closely watched as an indicator of how effectively the party can translate organisational expansion into electoral performance on the ground.
