A massive fire ravaged a house, a shop, and a car in Upper ALC Line Colony, Seppa, in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng district, on August 10, 2025, causing significant property loss but no injuries or fatalities. The blaze, reported at 5:10 am, was attributed to an electrical short-circuit, according to the house owner, as confirmed by SP Kamdam Sikhom.
Fire tenders from the Seppa unit responded swiftly, containing the flames and preventing further damage to nearby structures. This incident follows a pattern of fire outbreaks in Seppa, with a similar event in May 2021 gutting 16 houses at ALC Line due to exploding LPG cylinders. The recurring fires highlight the need for enhanced electrical safety measures in the region.
SP Sikhom noted that investigations are underway to confirm the cause and assess the extent of the damage, estimated to be worth lakhs. Local authorities have urged residents to ensure proper wiring and avoid overloading circuits to prevent future incidents. Community members rallied to support the affected family, reflecting Seppa’s resilience in the face of such tragedies.
