Authorities in southwest Delhi's Bindapur area arrested 32-year-old Geeta on charges of fatally assaulting her 62-year-old father-in-law, Naresh Kumar, a retired Indian Air Force officer, following a prolonged dispute over family property shares. The incident came to light on December 27 when police received a PCR call at 10:46 AM reporting a serious assault at a residence in Mansa Ram Park. Responding officers found the victim in a critical state, highlighting the severity of the attack.
Naresh Kumar was discovered unconscious on the rooftop of the family home, showing visible signs of blunt force trauma. Geeta, the wife of the victim's son Parveen, initially alerted authorities and claimed that her father-in-law had been beaten by unknown assailants. Emergency services transported him to a nearby medical facility, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, confirming the injuries as the cause of death.
A detailed crime scene investigation was launched, involving forensic science laboratory experts who collected physical evidence, including potential weapons and trace materials from the rooftop and surrounding areas. Preliminary findings pointed to a domestic altercation, with investigators noting a history of heated arguments between Geeta and Naresh Kumar centered on inheritance and property division rights within the household.

The situation had reportedly intensified after the death of Naresh Kumar's wife in August, leaving him residing with his daughter-in-law while his son Parveen pursued employment in Hyderabad. Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder at Bindapur police station, leading to Geeta's immediate arrest and subsequent remand to judicial custody pending further court proceedings.
Ongoing inquiries aim to uncover additional details about the motive, sequence of events, and any contributing factors in this tragic case of familial violence. The incident underscores the potentially deadly outcomes of unresolved property conflicts, prompting authorities to examine broader implications for dispute resolution in domestic settings.
