Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested two sharpshooters linked to the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang following a dramatic encounter near Sector 34 in Rohini early Friday morning. The suspects, identified as Sombir alias Chinu from Hisar, Haryana, and Vijay from Bhaskar Colony, Chandigarh, are accused of the brutal murder of Deepak, nephew of jailed gangster Manjeet Mahal, in northwest Delhi’s Bawana area.
The killing, which occurred in broad daylight, saw Deepak gunned down in front of his seven-year-old daughter, who sustained injuries from bullet splinters. The attack is believed to be part of a long-standing feud between the Nandu and Manjeet Mahal gangs, which has claimed numerous lives over the years.
Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team set up an ambush near Munak Canal in Rohini. When confronted, the suspects fired five rounds at the police, who responded with four shots, injuring both Sombir and Vijay in the legs. “Despite warnings to surrender, the duo opened fire, forcing us to act decisively. Both were overpowered without any injuries to our team,” a senior officer stated.

Sombir is alleged to have fired the fatal shots at Deepak, while Vijay, a known history-sheeter, provided logistical support. Police recovered two country-made pistols, seven live cartridges, one misfired round, and four spent cartridges from the scene. Both suspects are now in custody and receiving medical treatment.
