In a strong push to revive one of India’s oldest telecom public sector units, Union Minister for Communication Jyotiraditya M Scindia announced on Thursday that the Centre is actively working on multiple strategies to make ITI Limited financially robust and sustainable.
Describing ITI as a cornerstone of India’s telecom journey, Scindia praised its incredible evolution — from producing rotary phones decades ago to now manufacturing critical telecom gear like routers, radio access networks, and printed circuit boards.
After an on-site visit and detailed discussions with ITI officials, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming ITI into a future-ready powerhouse amid the telecom sector’s rapid technological upheaval.

“We are focusing on a whole-of-government approach to ensure ITI not only survives but thrives,” Scindia said. He urged ITI’s management to take the lead in upgrading manufacturing capabilities while assuring that the ministry will back these efforts to secure ITI’s long-term sustainability.
As India races towards 5G and beyond, this revival plan could mark a pivotal turning point for ITI Limited — potentially powering the next telecom revolution from within the country.
