BJP Member of Parliament Dhaval Patel on Thursday made strong political remarks targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging foreign associations and “anti-national narratives” in response to Gandhi’s recent comments calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah “traitors” during a public rally. The statements have further intensified the ongoing political exchange between the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress.
Patel claimed that Rahul Gandhi has links with individuals and groups he described as associated with the so-called “Tukde Tukde gang” and international financier George Soros. He alleged that Gandhi has met such individuals during foreign visits, including recent trips abroad, and suggested that these interactions reflect an anti-India narrative. However, Patel did not provide documentary evidence to support these claims.
The remarks were made in the context of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, where he accused the BJP leadership of attacking constitutional values and urged party workers to confront ruling party representatives politically. Gandhi’s comments drew sharp criticism from BJP leaders, who said the language used was inappropriate and provocative for a senior national leader.

Patel further described Gandhi’s statements as reflecting political frustration amid repeated electoral setbacks faced by the Congress party in various states. He also alleged that such remarks are part of a broader pattern of criticism by Gandhi against national security decisions and government policies. The BJP MP linked these comments to what he described as an attempt to undermine public institutions and elected leadership.
In addition, Patel referred to earlier controversies involving international discussions and statements by Gandhi on global economic competition and China’s manufacturing strength. He said such remarks had previously been criticised by the BJP for projecting a negative image of India abroad. He also defended the government, stating that Prime Minister Modi’s foreign engagements are aimed at strengthening India’s strategic and energy interests.
The Congress party has not yet issued an official response to Patel’s allegations. The exchange adds to the continuing political tension between the BJP and Congress, with both sides frequently trading accusations over nationalism, governance, and foreign engagement ahead of upcoming political developments.
