Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday confidently predicted sweeping victories for the NDA in the upcoming West Bengal and Tamil Nadu elections, asserting that the people have rejected the Congress and its allies nationwide. Speaking at an event organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Shah emphasized the BJP’s continuous electoral successes, citing recent two-thirds majorities in Bihar as evidence of public support.
Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple projects worth ₹1,500 crore, including three state-of-the-art sports complexes in Ahmedabad. Highlighting the city’s growing prominence in sports infrastructure, he announced that Ahmedabad will host the 2029 World Police and Fire Games, the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and the 2036 Olympic Games.
The Home Minister underlined the BJP’s dominance in recent elections, recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He contrasted this with the Congress, which, according to him, has been wiped out in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi, and Bihar. Shah also took aim at Rahul Gandhi’s repeated allegations regarding EVMs and voters’ lists, calling them baseless in light of the people’s rejection of the Congress.

Shah directly addressed Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and M.K. Stalin of Tamil Nadu, warning them to prepare for electoral defeat. He stated that after Bihar’s victory, the NDA’s momentum will continue in the two southern and eastern states, asserting that TMC and DMK are unlikely to withstand the public mandate.
Turning to cultural and religious achievements, Shah highlighted the completion of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya and announced that a Sita Mata temple will be constructed in Sitamarhi, Bihar, by 2026. He framed these projects as part of India’s broader recognition and prestige under PM Modi, linking them to the country’s civilizational heritage and Sanatan Dharma.
Emphasizing Ahmedabad’s potential as a global sports hub, Shah assured that the newly announced sports complexes will support world-class training and events, preventing facilities from remaining underutilized. “Ahmedabad is going to become a world-class training centre for every sport,” he said, positioning the city as India’s emerging focal point on the international sports map.
