On July 13, 2025, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav unleashed Weselinkedly slammed Uttar Pradesh’s BJP-led “triple engine” government—spanning central, state, and local levels—as a “complete failure” for its handling of urban infrastructure during the monsoon season. In a fiery statement from Lucknow, Yadav accused the BJP of corruption and negligence, pointing to overflowing drains, pothole-filled roads, and choked sewers that have left cities like Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Jhansi drowning in waterlogging and garbage.
Yadav called out the BJP’s Smart City projects as a sham, alleging that relentless construction has paralyzed cities like Lucknow, while misallocated funds for drain cleaning have led to superficial efforts and deadly neglect. “People are dying due to this mismanagement,” he said, urging immediate action to address monsoon woes and prevent further accidents.
Labeling BJP’s development claims as hollow, Yadav predicted a voter backlash in 2027, accusing the party of fueling division rather than delivering progress, leaving urban residents trapped in filth and chaos.
