Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin sharply criticized the AIADMK's renewed alliance with the BJP, stating that genuine AIADMK workers are deeply dissatisfied with the decision. Stalin accused AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami of aligning with the BJP, which he claims has consistently betrayed Tamil Nadu, for the 2026 Assembly elections.
In a letter to DMK supporters, ahead of the seventh death anniversary of former CM M Karunanidhi, Stalin alleged that Palaniswami was spreading falsehoods during his statewide campaign. He urged DMK workers to uphold Karunanidhi’s pro-Tamil legacy and work toward securing a seventh term for the party in next year’s elections.
Stalin highlighted the BJP’s interference in non-BJP-ruled states through Governors, praising the DMK government’s legal victories in ensuring gubernatorial approval for state Bills. He contrasted this with AIADMK’s lack of commitment to Tamil Nadu’s interests, accusing Palaniswami of compromising principles by aligning with the BJP.

“Palaniswami knelt before the BJP in Delhi, forging an alliance that even true AIADMK workers oppose,” Stalin said, emphasizing the discontent within AIADMK ranks.
Reflecting on Karunanidhi’s pro-Tamil and pro-people initiatives, Stalin said his government continues to champion Tamil Nadu’s rights. To mark Karunanidhi’s death anniversary on August 7, a peace march to his Marina memorial will be held in Chennai, with Stalin calling on party workers to honor the Dravidian icon in their districts.
